Today I am throwing it back to my wedding, and sharing some behind the scenes pics and awesome tips that helped me to achieve my absolute dream look on my wedding day.
First of all, I was so blessed to work with the most remarkable glam team of ALL TIME! Rick Henry was my incredibly talented hair stylist (senior stylist at Nine Zero One / also responsible for Katy Perry’s amazing hair), and Julianne Kaye was my insanely skillful makeup artist (one of the hottest celeb makeup artists and beauty experts in the industry / she was most recently seen on the Grammy red carpet).
Since this team was extremely talented, it was immediately clear that they understood exactly what type of look I was going for right off the bat. My hair inspiration came from Emily Ratajkowski– a chic low bun for the ceremony, then big sexy Victoria secret hair for the second half of the reception and after party.
As for makeup, I wanted bold smoky eyes, big lashes, defined and shimmery cheekbones and soft lips. I wanted this look because this is Drew’s favorite look on me…so may as well please the man you’re about to marry, right?? Julianne and I named this look “The Drew.”
So there we had it, “Emily Ratajkowski meets The Drew” (oh baby baby). The outcome was beyond perfect! Julianne made sure my lips didn’t smudge or get on Drew during kissing pictures and Rick made my hair look super chic without taking any attention away from the back of my dress. Most importantly, I felt A M A Z I N G! I could not wait to walk down the aisle to see the look on Drew’s face.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing glam team for my wedding who have become my good friends! Trust me - having a glam team you 100% trust is the key to having a super fun and relaxing wedding day.
Tips
- Look at numerous pictures before meeting your glam team so you have an idea of what you want
- Become friends with your stylists (they are working with you and want the best outcome for all)
- Do a trial run
- Make sure your spouse likes the look you are aiming for! You are going to have these pictures forever.
