Now that we’ve got gifts and outfits sorted for Valentine’s Day, time to focus on looking your absolute hottest. Whether your plans include a steamy date, a wild night with the girls, or a casual lunch, here are a few tips and tricks to make sure all eyes are on you this Valentine’s Day!
DAY
Hair: Shine On! Spray your hair with your favorite lightweight shine mist to hydrate your hair and tame your flyaways. Personally, I am absolutely obsessed with Drybar Sparkling Soda Shine Mist. It literally smells so delicious I want to spray the whole can on my hair (lol!) I also recently learned about another great hairspray that won't make your hair look oily or greasy. Its called IGK spray. Although it isn't a heat protector, it is a great product to use as a final touch up after a blow dry.
Easy Eyeshadow: If you’re looking for a fun, somewhat flirty eyeshadow, I’ve been playing around with the Too Faced White Peach Palette. This shadow palette came out a few weeks ago and it has the best pinks and blush colors which are perfect eyeshadow shades for daytime makeup and also for people with light-colored eyes. For people with dark brown eyes (ahem, me) I'm obsessed with Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in "nude dip" or "honeymoon". These These warm shadows will give your eyes a glowy, lightweight, fabulous daytime look.
Lips: Add a little glossy to look like a bossy. My favorites right now are actually NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments that will stay on your lips all day no matter what Valentines day chocolates or candies you end up digging into.
Nails: My go-to is generally light pink but since its Valentine's Day after all, my suggestions are either OPI "Big Apple" red or a beautiful and fun hot pink color by Essie nail polish called "Mod Squad".
Highlighter: My favorite highlighter right now is by Becca. I love the Opal but it depends on your skin tone! Highly recommend because it’s so easy to use and even if you throw on too much, it blends really nicely.
DATE NIGHT
Voluminous hair: If you’re leaving the office in a hurry and you just want to spice it up quickly... bring on the hairspray. My favorite volume spray is OUAI. This spray is paraben and sulfate free which is great for keratin or color-treated hair. You can get this product at Sephora in a travel size too :)
Bold eyeliner: Impress your significant other with a sexy winged liner look. My go to liquid eyeliners are Smashbox Cosmetics Limitless Liquid Liner Pen and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.
Mascara: I've mentioned this in a previous post but I'll mention it again because its soooo good... my favorite mascara is TOO Faced "Better Than Sex" mascara. Just get it, seriously, you're lashes will thank you.
Another cheap mascara that is so awesome if you’re just passing through a CVS or want to leave one at your desk is L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in " Carbon Black". This mascara is lightweight, doesn't crumble, and you can't beat the pricing -- $4.
The perfect red lip: My makeup artist in LA used this red lip stain on the photo of me above and it was seriously amazing. I was hesitant at first to wear a red lip and now looking back, I'm not sure why because I ended up getting so so many compliments on it. I definitely want to repeat the look for my date with Drew tomorrow night. The lip stain she used is STILA Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick.
